The Candle Apothecary was founded in September 2008 by Amanda
Bucha.  She started off making the candles as gifts for friends and for
personal use. It turned out that Amanda really had a knack for making
some great candles, and due to the positive response she received,
she decided to begin selling them.  Since then, things have only
gotten better.

Sales of the candles continue to grow. She attributes this to the time
and care she puts into her product.  Amanda and her small team of
candle helpers personally label, hand pour, and wick each and every
candle. Most candles are made to order, and nothing but care and
creativity are put into each one.

As a person with skin sensitivities, Amanda wanted to create a product
that would be safe and appealing.  She chooses to use only phthalate-
free fragrance oils and  those that are also considered “body-safe”.  
Each candle is highly scented with 10% fragrance oil. The industry
standard from large candle manufacturers is typically only 4%. The
difference is obvious.  The Candle Apothecary soy candles are
drenched in appealing...and often “mouth-watering” aromas.

Amanda feels strongly about maintaining an environmentally
responsible workplace and product. To uphold this belief, the Candle
Apothecary uses 100% soy wax with natural botanicals and cotton
wicks.   Soy is a much better alternative to paraffin for the simple
reason that it reduces our dependence on oil.  Soy wax comes from
renewable soybeans, while paraffin comes from non-renewable crude
oil.   In addition, any waste produced is recycled, and recycled
products are used whenever possible.  

The Candle Apothecary headquarters are located in Grandview Heights
(Columbus), Ohio.  In addition to our online store, our candles are
available for sale at the Silver Moon Winery in Dover, Ohio. We hope
to announce additional retail locations in the future.

Our goal is to promote a product that creates a sense of well being
and encourages others to make eco-friendly lifestyle changes.
